It was getting late by the time Brad and I reached the little hamlet Forks of the Salmon, so we headed up the south fork to camp. We found a nice place for roughing it although there are several forest service campgrounds on the river. We drove by Hotelling, interesting name. In the morning we found the river a great delight. I include a photograph for you.

We found traces of an old road, overgrown, pulling off to the side of the river and followed it. It ended at a concrete platform, quite small for today's automobiles, but size right for one of the early Fords. The bridge over the river, such as remains, began to the right.
Travel northern California. See the Marble Mountains, the Salmon Mountains, the beautiful Salmon River, Sawyers Bar: the best living mining town of California - where people still pan for gold, the magnificent Salmon River Gorge. Raft the rivers, try your hand at mining and/or fishing. Hike the Russian Wilderness and/or the Marble Mountain Wilderness in the beautiful Klamath National Forest. Or simply enjoy yourself sightseeing.
