It's not hard - not hard at all - to imagine this narrow rock strewn riverbed with the river in full throttle, plummeting between rocky defiles.
Is this rapid known as Last Chance? I believe so, but I could be mistaken. I only know the order of the photographs, and this comes early on in our trek down the gorge. Last Chance is a class V rapid. No matter what the river may throw in this rock stewn path, now this narrow rocky riverbed evokes a gentle sigh and wonder at the beauty of the pristine waters. Albeit, a far cry from just a few weeks earlier.

Travel northern California. See the Marble Mountains, the Salmon Mountains, the beautiful Salmon River, Sawyers Bar, the best living mining town, the magnificent Salmon River Gorge. Raft the river, try your hand at mining and/or fishing. Hike the Russian Wilderness in the Klamath National Forest. Or simply enjoy yourself sightseeing.
