If you're interested, Prospect oregon boasts beautiful scenery as can be seen from these few pages, laying claim to the closest "town" to the beautiful upper Rogue River. It is easy to find, traveling north from Medford, Oregon or traveling south from Crater Lake National Park. The first cutoff from the Crater Lake is just a little south to the High Cascades Ranger Station for the Forest Service. If you don't take that exit, you'll see a couple more turns to the left that will take you to Mill Creek and Barr Creek Waterfalls. One of the roads to the left has a sign for Mill Creek Waterfalls if I remember correctly. The town, however, boasts a pioneer hotel which housed President Grant at one time. It also has an small pizza parlor. We like their vegetarian pizza, and have stopped there on more than one occasion. To find it, it's best to take the first exit if you're traveling south on the Crater Lake Hwy. If you need one, the town has a post office. Also, there's an interesting bar if one likes animal heads. I haven't been in there. I've just heard about it. There's a small general store near the southern end of town. Find it to the right if you're heading south. It's across from the parking lot for the hiking trail to Pearsoney Waterrfall. It's just a little north of the bridge and the Avenue of Giant Boulders. | |
